NAME OF THE PROJECT: Increasing public awareness for an active protection of biodiversity in the Czech Republic

Aim of the Project: The aim of the project is to raise public awareness of biodiversity and improve its protection, and to motivate people to actively protect it in their everyday lives. This is to be achieved through a comprehensive educational campaign, active engagement of citizens, and model educational programmes.

The project is supported by the grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, through the EEA Grants.

The project „Increasing public awareness for an active protection of biodiversity in the Czech Republic” is financed by the EEA Grants 20092014. It is co-financed by the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic and by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

Our project partners are Friends of the Earth Norway, The 7th Generation, Masaryk University, Hnutí Duha/Friends of the Earth Czech Republic - Olomouc, Lipka - educational institution for environmental training.


PROJECT PARTNERS

The 7th Generation magazine has informed the public aboutvarious aspects of environmental protection in the wider picture for more than 20 years. Their contribution to the project represents a series of articles on the protection of biodiversity.

Lipka take part in environmental education; organize a variety of seminars and practical classes. They also participate in teaching at several universities. As for the project, they are in charge of model educational programmes for students.

Hnutí DUHA/Friends of the EarthOlomouc focus on the protection of endangered large predators, primarily in the Beskid Mountains. They are experts on volunteer activities, they organize specialized seminars, lectures for the public and educational programmes. Masaryk University is also involved in the project: the Department of Environmental Studies analyses man’s relation to nature.

Friends of the Earth Norway (Norges Naturvernforbund) were founded more than a hundred years ago and are Norway's oldest and biggest environmental protection organization. The project is an opportunity for us to benefit from their extensive experience and expertise.

NAME OF THE PROJECT: ENVIRONMENTALLY-AWARE TOURISM

EAA grants

Duration: January 1st, 2016 – December 31st, 2016
Project budget: 629 300 Czech crowns
Aim of the project: The project focuses on enhancing the protection of nature and landscape, and on the promotion of soft tourism in selected areas with patches of wilderness. The project aims to introduce new options of sustainable tourism in the wilderness areas, which are left to themselves and to the admiration by thoughtful visitors.
 
The project was realized with a financial support of the state budget of the Czech Republic and with the assistance of the Ministry of Regional Development.
