Welcome to the Czech Wilderness
Wild waterfalls flowing from mountain tundra in the Giant Mountains, thousands of flowers at the orchid meadows in the White Carpathians or hundred-year old oaks in bottomland woods. Majestic sea eagles at Třeboň ponds, lynx in the Beskids or Bohemian deep forests, wolves and wild cats in the Bohemian Forest.
The exotica just behind your backyard lives its own life. Let it live.
Supported by the grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, through the EEA Grants 2009—2014.
Let the wilderness speak!
Most of the Central Europe is managed by people. Therefore it is so important to preserve at least last few isles of wild nature in the Czech Republic.
We know it is possible and we have been working on it.
Equally, our children´s children should have a right to admire natural changes of the ecosystems and species diversity: the forests with age—old trees, fallen tree—logs and spontaneously growing trees or unbounded creeks and rivers seeking their way changing their beds.
Places full of silence and mystery, where the most endangered animal and plant species find their home. There will never be many sanctuaries like these in our country—however, they belong to the most beautiful jewels of our countryside.
We involve the public actively in the protection of these beauties, because the nature experience is a unique and irreplaceable way of education.
The project “Increasing public awareness for an active protection of biodiversity in the Czech Republic” is supported within the programme CZ02—Environment, supported by grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, through the EEA Grants 2009—2014. Our project partners are Friends of the Earth Norway, The 7th Generation, Masaryk University, Friends of the Earth Czech Republic—Olomouc, Lipka—educational institution for environmental training.
